At Woodhouse Primary Academy we believe that ensuring your child has regular attendance is one of the most important things that you as parents/carers can do for them. It is the Woodhouse way to aim high in all we do and this is why we have a school aim to achieve 96% attendance by the end of this academic year. We know that we can achieve this by continuing to work together by listening to our children and offering support to families whenever they need it.
Research shows that children who attend school regularly are more likely to realise their academic and social potential than those children whose attendance is irregular. At Woodhouse we want each child to have the best chance to realise their academic and social potential so as to achieve anything they want as they move through their education and into the world of work.
Being at school regularly also enables your child to:
- Explore an exciting and engaging curriculum
- Develop friendships, both old and new
- Participate in a broad range of sporting events and extra-curricular clubs
- Embed the importance of life skills such as: punctuality, resilience and commitment
If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance, please speak to Miss Lavelle or another member of the Senior Leadership Team.
It is also important to arrive for school on time each day. Woodhouse Primary Academy open our gates at 8:35am each morning, and the registers for children in all year groups are open at 8:45am each morning. We close our school gates at 9am each day.
Any child arriving after 8.55am must be brought in to the school office and be signed in by their parent/carer using the screen in the reception. Children arriving late (any time after 8.55am) must not be dropped off and left at the school gate unsupervised. They will be given a late ticket to give to their class teacher.
The entrance gates are re-opened at 3pm ready for the end of the school day: 3:15pm in EYFS and KS1 (YR-2) and 3:20pm in KS2 (Y3-6). Nursery children start at 9am, and finish each day at 3pm. Our Before and after School Club is available to be booked from 7:30am to 6pm each day.
Our Reception to Year 6 children attend for at least 32.5 hours each week.
