School Cabinet

The Woodhouse Primary Academy School Cabinet is made up of one elected class representative from each class in Years 2 – 6 and The Rainbow Room.  It is chaired by Year 6 student leaders: Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. There are also additional Year 6 children selected to represent the children in our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 classes, ensuring all our children are represented and heard.

Children who want to represent their class on the Cabinet make a written application to express their interest. Candidates are then shortlisted anonymously based on their applications. Once candidates are selected on to this shortlist, we hold an election at our polling station where each child casts their secret ballot on who they wanted to represent them on the Cabinet. Following this process, our School Cabinet is formed of elected representatives.

Our School Cabinet meets at least twice each half term and discusses all aspects of school improvement and development along with our Head Teacher and Pastoral Manager.

Our School Cabinet has already achieved many things to help improve our school. Improvements in school rules, extra-curricular opportunities, school meals, canteen experience, break time and lunch time play and opportunities. Ideas are shared, discussed and developed. Different adults from across school attend cabinet meetings to hear the views of the children across school enjoyment.  We make an annual trip as a School Cabinet to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, where we learn more about democracy, the process of making and developing laws and running our country.

The School Cabinet will serve for the entirety of this academic year from their election, before it is dissolved at the end of July, ready for the process to begin again.

Eco Team

Children on our Eco Team are responsible for looking after the environment around them and working to sustain our Green Flag status. They champion active travel, supporting our work with Modeshift STARS. They encourage recycling within their classrooms and help to look after our wider school environment. Our Eco Team carry out a range of tasks around the school and meet regularly to discuss ideas for improvement. All of our Green Team members are elected volunteers and the team is made up of children from Years 1 – 6.  The Eco Team is led by Mrs Banks.

Techno Team

Woodhouse Primary Academy is proud of the high standard of Computing that is taught throughout the school, and it has its own dedicated Techno Team: a group of individuals who are capable of supporting other children and staff in using the technology found in school. Our band of specialists are able to support and help children in using iPads and Chromebooks, ensuring their effective use each day. They are also confident with their knowledge of devices in school and even help staff members with any technical issues that may arise.

Every morning they set up classes with the necessary hardware and at the end of the day they make sure that all technology is being charged up ready for the next day.
